Bobby and Jeff began writing AVENUE Q in the BMI Workshop in 1999, thinking it was a great idea for a TV series. Seven years later there's still no TV series, but AVENUE Q the musical has been produced Off-Broadway, on Broadway, in Las Vegas, and now London—so screw TV! In 2004, Bobby and Jeff won a Tony Award for AVENUE Q's score, and were especially proud when the show won for Best Musical.
They are currently collaborating on a new Broadway musical with Matt Stone & Trey Parker, the creators of South Park. Also in the works is a new movie musical for Universal Pictures. Other works include an unproduced Muppet movie called Kermit, Prince of Denmark (which received the coveted Ed Kleban Award) and Ferdinand the Bull, a children's musical. Bobby's new musical version of Finding Nemo, co-written with his wife Kristen Anderson-Lopez, will open at Walt Disney World in November 2006.
Jeff's book, How To Win a High School Election, has sold over 15,000 copies in bookstores and online.
Bobby sends his love to his family and friends and especially to his new daughter, Katie. Jeff thanks his family and friends and lithium. They are both grateful for the contributions of their extremely talented AVENUE Q collaborators. Bobby and Jeff also wish to acknowledge and thank those artists who have provided them with so much inspiration: Jeff Moss, Joe Raposo, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Stephen Sondheim, Paul Williams, Billy Joel, Barry Manilow, John Kander & Fred Ebb, Stephen Trask & John Cameron Mitchell, Trey Parker & Matt Stone and Marc Shaiman. And of course, Frank Oz & Jim Henson.
