Matthew was born in Birmingham and trained at the Urdang Academy. Theatre credits include: Disney’s THE LION KING (Lyceum Theatre), where he understudied and played the role of Simba; BLACK ORPHEUS (Midlands Arts Centre); ODESSEY (Ashcroft Theatre); GONE WITH PETROUCHKA (ICA Theatre); BLACK VOICES (Birmingham Rep); the tour of MISS SAIGON, understudying and playing the role of John; and most recently in SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER at the Apollo Victoria in London, where he played the role of Chester.
Television and film credits include: THE GENERATION GAME, TOP OF THE POPS, THE BIG BREAKFAST, HEAVEN AND EARTH and BRASSED OFF.
Other appearances: Prince of Wales Two Nations Concert (Johannesburg Stadium); Cher Farewell UK Tour; and Pam Ann Experience.
